This Election Day, approximately 80 Methacton High School students stepped up to serve as poll workers—continuing a long-standing tradition of civic engagement within the district.

Most of the students worked in precincts at Methacton's buildings, though the strong student interest meant several were sent to neighboring communities where extra help was needed. Students took on a variety of important roles, including serving as clerks, check-in helpers, greeters, and even assisting voters with the voting machines.

Many of these student workers brought additional skills to the table—such as bilingual abilities—which proved invaluable in helping all voters navigate the process smoothly.

To qualify, students must be at least 17 years old, and they are paid for their time, with some working a full day from 6:30 a.m. until after polls close, and others serving a half-day shift.

This nonpartisan program gives students a firsthand look at how democracy works while meeting a real need in local elections. Methacton has proudly supported student poll workers for years, and local election officials consistently praise them for their reliability, professionalism, and positive attitude.

The Methacton Education Foundation is a proud supporter of this initiative.
