The Methacton High School Theatre Company recently concluded a high-energy, four-show run of Little Shop of Horrors, performing for nearly 1,500 audience members. Despite a preparation period characterized by a long winter break, winter blizzards, and midterms, the cast and crew remained resilient, adding extra rehearsals to their challenging schedule to ensure a professional-grade production. Those efforts certainly paid off; their hard work was evident in every scene, leaving the audience absolutely delighted by the high-caliber performance brought to the stage.

It truly "takes a village" to bring a production of this scale to life, and this production's success was bolstered by key community partnerships. We are incredibly grateful to the Methacton Education Foundation (MEF) for a major grant that provided a new state-of-the-art lighting system, allowing for the truly immersive scene setting that defined the show’s atmosphere. This spirit of collaboration extended backstage through a unique partnership with students who attend the North Montco Technical Career Center (NMTCC). Cosmetology students Kira Sands and Maddie Shearer served as hair directors, arriving three hours before every curtain to meticulously craft the authentic 1960s beehives and period-accurate styles that completed the visual identity.
The success of Little Shop of Horrors was a massive undertaking that would not have been possible without the visionary leadership of the creative team and the support of community partners. The Methacton School District extends their most sincere gratitude to Theatre Director Mary Fitzgerald, Assistant Director and Hair/Makeup Director Denise Naylor, and Music Director Elizabeth Francisco. Their unwavering dedication and invaluable mentorship were the driving forces that brought the performances, visuals, and sounds to life.
The District also wants to share a heartfelt thank you to Erin Nice (choreographer), David Light (Production Assistant), and Heidi Swartz (Costumer) who were vital to the production, and congratulations to every student involved in Spring Musical. As the final curtain closes, MHSTC celebrates a season defined by artistic growth, technological innovation, and incredible interdisciplinary talent.
