Dear Families/Guardians,

We have received reports that a group of high school students are planning a walkout demonstration in response to recent immigration-related events. To our knowledge, this walkout is currently scheduled to take place during the school day on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. This demonstration is student-initiated and not organized, approved, or supported by Methacton School District. Should this walkout occur, the district will take appropriate steps to ensure student safety, including having building administrators and security personnel present to supervise students.

While we respect the importance of student voice, actions that violate school rules - such as disrupting the learning environment - will result in a half-hour detention (served after school between 2:20PM-2:50PM or during a scheduled lunch period). Students will be provided notice of disciplinary consequences should they take part in a walkout during the school day. For students who do not participate in the demonstration, instruction will continue as scheduled.

We encourage families to speak with their children about the potential consequences of this event and how to voice their views respectfully and thoughtfully. Our primary focus remains maintaining a safe, supportive, and focused learning environment where all students can learn and succeed. We are committed to ensuring our schools remain safe and welcoming for every student. If your child needs additional support, please contact your child’s school counselor.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

Sincerely,

Dr. David Zerbe
Superintendent
