Community CaresEmpowering Respectful, Safe, and Inclusive Schools

Community Cares is a collaborative program that brings high school leaders and middle school students together through peer mentorship to build character, strengthen connections, and teach essential life skills that shape responsible, respectful citizens. Launched in the 2025-26 school year in partnership with Mission Kids and Pennsylvania State Representative Joe Webster’s office, the Community Cares initiative promotes a culture of kindness, respect, and inclusion.

How It Works: Mentorship in Action

Led by selected Methacton High School student mentors, Community Cares is grounded in the belief that students are most influenced by those they already look up to. By empowering 11th and 12th graders to serve as role models and discussion leaders, the program creates meaningful connections with 6th and 7th grade students at Arcola Intermediate School and Skyview Upper Elementary School, bridging the age gap in a way that feels genuine and relatable.

Each month, middle school students participate in focused lessons led by these high school mentors on topics aligned to the program’s goals, including conflict resolution, cultural respect, internet safety, and other essential life skills. Through consistent, peer-led conversations, students strengthen relationships, build character, and contribute to a safe, supportive school environment rooted in respect and responsibility.

Training & Partnerships

The program is supported by a robust network of community partners. Before entering the classroom, the high school mentors undergo an intensive orientation led by one of our partners. They study middle school psychology, master public speaking techniques, and learn engagement strategies to ensure every discussion is impactful and safe.
